I am Zøe (Qiang Qian). I started in applied physics, then studied digital audio at Nanjing University of the Arts. I am not interested in using new tools to make a prettier image. I care about what happens to perception after a person steps into a system: data, algorithms, and other people in the room all become part of the sound and the image.

The method is simple. Listen, collect, write rules, then let the system run live. Max, Ableton, TouchDesigner, and the browser are methods, not an identity.

Most of what I make now lives in live audiovisual work, interactive installation, and sound systems that can be opened and played.
